Thirty Years

A cold bed to lay his head
Can you blame a man who strays?
The distance between the two of you
Can't be mended by pushing away
And you expect him to come back
But I saw the pain in his eyes
How could you fail to notice?
There won't be another time
He can't go through his whole life
Within the confines of your control
The purest heart will harden
As the hurt numbs the soul
Just surprised the silence lasted--
Thirty long years
